Jacob van Rijs to lecture about 'Playing with Space' in Bogotá, 20th April 2016

undefined

The Netherlands pavilion at the FILBO is a comment on the often wasteful system of trade fairs in which enormous constructions are made and trashed a few days or weeks later. In Bogotá a different approach was chosen, the fair trade pavilion is a Dutch village, Pueblo Holandes, which is made of a single wooden element that can be flexibly rearranged, almost like LEGO. The pavilion will be reused in various places in Bogotá as local mini libraries. Jacob van Rijs explains the pavilion design and give a status report of some current works in the Netherlands, from villas to large mixed-use developments and how MVRDV recently designed a series of buildings that answer to the increasing wish for historical references.
