Since its founding, MVRDV has focused on stimulating the creation of high-density urban conditions. This philosophy was as the result of a strongly held belief that the most socially responsible work architects can do is to increase the density of the way we live on the planet so as to use less resources. The caveat of densifying existing towns and cities is that there is then an opportunity to improve their quality. MVRDV projects add to the quality of their immediate environments with the many ways that they can be interpreted by users. Through usage, buildings prove their right of existence. Social, environmental and economic responsibility occur when buildings are loved by their users.
