Jan Knikker speaking at UCSI School of Architecture and the Built Environment

undefined

MVRDV Partner Jan Knikker will lecture at the UCSI Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment on the 8th of February.

The lecture, titled ‘Contextualism’, will explore issues of local identity and tradition in architecture through the lens of  MVRDV’s recent work. From the description:

The nomads of global architecture jet from city to city and realise remarkable works. How is the local context and identity maintained in this global field? MVRDV is currently working on a set of highly-contextual projects that not only respect local tradition and history, but also reflect upon it and develop it further without being nostalgic. Sometimes with great respect to small reminders of the past (as in Bastide Niel in Bordeaux), sometimes with a humorous approach towards heritage (as in the Cultural Cluster in Zaandam.)

More information on the lecture can be found at the link here.
