Nathalie de Vries and Jacob van Rijs, named by The American Institute of Architects (AIA) among its 2019 Honorary Fellows, will be honoured alongside the 7 other Honorary Fellows and 115 Fellows at a ceremony on June 7 at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas.
There will be two moments where De Vries and Van Rijs will talk about their vision of architecture with the audience of the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas "Blueprint for a Better Future". A title which wants to focus on the fact that designing a better future means taking on the critical challenges facing cities—and our world—today.
On Friday 7 June at 11.30AM, during the 2019 AIA+ARCHITECT Booth Program they will present their lecture "Densification, an Urgent Urban Approach", sharing best practices in planning strong, affordable, sustainable communities.
On Saturday 8 June at 3PM, De Vries and Van Rijs are part of the Honorary Fellows Forum where recipients of the institute's Honorary Fellowship present their work. Every year, AIA presents opportunities to go beyond the familiar and learn about practice and design excellence through a different lens thanks to the presentations of architects named for their “exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society on an international level.”
