Winy Maas, co-founder and principal architect of MVRDV, is the President of the Jury for the 2019 Italian Architect and Young Architectural Talent Prize. The ceremony will be held on Friday 15th and completed by a Lectio Magistralis on Saturday 16th of November at the Venice Biennale venue.
The program of the 2019 Architect’s Prize focuses on the fundamental relationship between human life’s spaces and happiness, addressing the theme under a juridical, scientific and architectural point of view.
The discussion introducing the Award Ceremony on Friday 15th will feature speakers as Paolo Baratta, President of the Venice Biennale and Giuseppe Cappochin, President of the National Association of Italian Architects CNAPPC alongside Giovanni Maria Flick, President Emeritus of the Constitutional Court, Giovanni Vecchiato from the Italian National Research Council and Winy Maas from MVRDV as President of the Jury. His contribution is called "Everything is Urbanism" and will give insights in his vision of a sustainable future.
The Lectio Magistralis on Saturday, 16 November, starting at 9.30 in Ca' Giustinian, will be given by MVRDV Partner Jan Knikker. He will present the lecture "MVRDV: Transforming the City through Architecture and Urbanism". The lecture foresees a final moment of confrontation during which MVRDV will give its own personal contribution on questions proposed by the Italian Orders concerning urban developments, with particular attention to the processes of participation and communication of architecture.
The participation will entitle to 5 credits for Friday 15 and 2 credits for Saturday 16 November
