Jan Knikker on Temporary Use of Space, Regensburg

undefined

Jan Knikker, MVRDV Partner, has been invited to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg, Germany, on 25 February. The event takes place at DEGINNGER, a historical patrician building in the middle of Regensburg's old town, an innovative project as the building is now to be used and enlivened by the cultural and creative industries.
Jan Knikker will speak about the temporary use of public space, underlining the great potential of this practice for the cities. He will focus on the project "The Stairs to Kriterion", a nod to 75 years of rebuilding Rotterdam. The temporary installation offered an impressive landmark for the cultural event ‘Rotterdam celebrates the city!’. The scaffolding responded to the angles of the Rotterdam Central Station, connecting the contemporary icon with a historic monument, whilst through its construction referencing the reconstruction that the city has experienced.
