Fokke Moerel to lecture on Architecture for Heritage at YAcademy, Bologna

undefined

MVRDV partner and architect Fokke Moerel is lecturing on 1 December 2020, at the YAcademy, Bologna. Theme of the course is “ARCHITECTURE FOR HERITAGE: How to dialogue with the past to design the contemporary”.
This heritage lecture is part of the Special Courses series, where students have the opportunity to meet the great masters of international Architecture, called to share their vision of architecture and the experience gained. YAcademy is part of YAC, an association which promotes architectural competitions aimed at fostering culture and design research.

In the lecture there will be special attention for the project Concordia Design in Wrocław, where MVRDV transformed a heritage building into a creative hotspot.
Concordia Design is a recently completed, mixed-use building containing co-working spaces, an event venue, a food hall, a café, and a rooftop terrace on Słodowa Island in Wrocław, Poland. The project is a renovation and extension of a 19th-century listed building, retaining the façade of the existing building and adding a contemporary extension to create a focal point for the neighbouring park and a destination that will enhance the experience of the island for visitors.
