How does architecture look for… dogs? Well, there is a way to find out! MVRDV's contribution to Japanese art-director and designer Kenya Hara's playful design project 'Architecture for Dogs' tries to make sense of the human-canine relationship through form. Associate architect Mick van Gemert and project leader Elien Deceuninck will participate in a panel discussion for ‘Architecture for Dogs’ hosted by Japan House London, UK on 29 January 2021.
Japan House London was the first European destination to exhibit the internationally acclaimed Architecture for Dogs exhibition from 19 September 2020 to 10 January 2021. The exhibition, which first launched in 2012, boasts 16 specially designed architectural pieces for dogs by world-class architects including the ‘Beagle House’ by Mick van Gemert and Elien Deceuninck.
During the panel discussion, the development of Beagle House will be discussed. What was the reason for this project? And how does this design fit into the body of work of Mick and Elien as members of MVRDV in relation to recent projects?
