What does a PR usually do in architecture studios? And how PR can help architects grow? Carmen Xu, Head of PR & BD of MVRDV Asia is giving a lecture to UAD – Architecture Design & Research Institute of Zhenjiang University this Friday, sharing her experiences and ideas on design PR and branding.
Carmen is the Head of PR & BD of MVRDV Asia, overseeing the external and internal communications across Public Relations and Business Development of MVRDV Asia, with a particular focus on the office’s branding and PR strategy in China. Carmen is actively involved in architecture and design sectors and has strong connections with cultural and design media in China, she writes for many prestigious design magazines, including the Chinese editions of Wallpaper*, NOWNESS, IDEAT, Cultural Trip, The Good Life, Architectural Digest, Elle Decoration, among many others; she has translated for a+u, COLORS, Domus, El-Croquis, The Art Newspaper, VICE and a selection of important international publications across art, culture, architecture and design. She used to work with architects including BIG, SOM, Neri&Hu and a few other international design studios, providing branding strategies and social media services to help their growth in China.
UAD was established in 1953 and is part of Zhejiang University which was founded in 1897. It is “one of the earliest first-class design institutes among major national universities in China” and has a strong portfolio in cultural architecture, urban regeneration, rural revitalization and many other sectors. Currently, UAD is also working with MVRDV on Suzhou Grand Theatre competition.
