The call for sustainability has never been louder. When we think about cities of the future, we often think of sustainable, smart cities. But, according to Winy Maas, they are much more than that. Join him on June 15 at Provada 2022, as he discusses the other key elements of future cities: freedom and the interaction between people, food, and water.

Winy Maas, Founding Partner, Principal Architect, landscape architect, and urban planner, has led MVRDV’s interdisciplinary team since its establishment in 1993. Driven by his dedication to green, user-defined, sustainable cities and spaces, Maas’ leadership drives many of the office’s award-winning projects. These include the Dutch Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hannover, Rotterdam’s Markthal, the Crystal Houses in Amsterdam, and the first publicly accessible art depot in the world, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. Maas balances practice with academic leadership. Besides his work for MVRDV, he is Professor of Urbanism and Architecture at the Delft University of Technology. In 2008, he developed The Why Factory, a research institute within TU Delft, which explores possibilities for the development of cities of the future.

Provada is the largest real estate fair in the Netherlands, organizing various virtual & physical events where knowledge sharing, inspiration and networking are central. Every year, Provada hosts a three-day fair at RAI Amsterdam with an attractive program, physical stands and networking opportunities. The organization has a central focus on social themes such as Inclusive Cities, Daring Sustainability and Healthy Urban Living & Working. They speak the language of care. They listen to the demand in the market and convert this into residential environments and residential care concepts. AM considers it one of its core tasks to give concrete form to sustainability in the built environment. Together with chain partners, they continuously investigate new possibilities for sustainable development.
