The impacts of COVID-19 highlighted how access to green space in urban environments is a vital ingredient for quality of life. MVRDV has advocated for the greening of our urban environments for decades, with projects such as the Expo 2000 pavilion demonstrating the possibilities to include greenery in unexpected places. Peter Chang will discuss the greenification of urban environments on August 26 at Roca Shanghai Gallery in a symposium that aims to explore synergies between architecture, landscape, and infrastructure to promote sustainable, zero-carbon, functional development in high-density environments for the benefit of residents' well-being.
Peter Chang, architect and associate director of MVRDV, has been invited to share the lessons of MVRDV's Rooftop Catalogue and its practical application. He will shed light on the catalogue with a particular focus on how rooftop developments can enhance the sustainability of a high-density environment, assessing factors including carbon consumption, functional development, and residents' satisfaction.
Roca, an international market leader in the defining of bathroom design, inaugurated its Roca Gallery in Shanghai in 2013. The Roca Shanghai Gallery - the first of its kind in Asia - is a reflection of the brand’s effort to bring together its philosophy and product line to the public as a whole. This new Gallery is a part of the international network of Galleries, which already has a presence in the world of architecture and design. Roca Shanghai Gallery has been designed with the objective of representing not only the brand’s product innovations, but also its philosophy and history. This opens up possibilities for interaction as well as learning about the brand’s commitment to people and the environment more intimately.
