As the impacts of climate change become increasingly tangible, more of the work of architects will become dedicated to responding to its effects. Good design requires incorporating responses to these inevitable challenges, without neglecting a vision for a better future. We invite you to join Gideon Maasland, director of MVRDV’S Studio 8, who will be speaking at ArhiBau.hr in Zagreb on the event’s theme of “Challenges of Recovery and Resilience”.
Hosted by the Zagreb Society of Architects, ArhiBau.hr is one of the largest construction fairs in the Zagreb region. The four-day fair and three-day conference deal with current and future topics pertinent to all participants of the construction sector – from buyers to contractors, engineers to workers, investors to managers and insurers, laymen to professionals, real sector and civil society to institutional sector and public management.
The central theme “Challenges of Recovery and Resilience” poses exciting questions for the construction sector and the architectural profession, which are invited to create solutions for the complex issues of ensuring accelerated economic recovery and green transition for sustainable development, as well as greater resilience to future crises.
Director and Architect Gideon Maasland (NL) joined MVRDV in 2016. Maasland leads MVRDV’s Studio 8, which is responsible for large-scale, complex buildings. He leads all projects in his studio under development and construction, including Valley, Tripolis Park, and the transformation of Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, as well as various other projects in the Netherlands, Europe, and also in China. Renowned for his detailed and dedicated approach, Maasland’s work is hands-on. To ensure the highest quality, he is often on the construction site directly overseeing building processes.
