On 15 May, Partner, Architect and Studio Americas Director Frans de Witte will participate in Stanford University’s Spring Lecture Series. The freely open series brings together practitioners, community enthusiasts, students, and staff in different disciplines to hear about the latest innovations in building and design.

From the dramatic Californian geology-inspired, mixed-use residential development The Canyon in San Francisco, to a complex which contributes to the social and inclusive character of a new urban district in Boston, Frans will elaborate on a number of MVRDV’s current and realised projects in the Americas and beyond in how MVRDV considers composition in creating visually harmonious and functional spaces.

Partner and Architect Frans de Witte joined MVRDV in 1996 and, being Americas studio director, he is currently leading projects in the Netherlands, the USA, Canada and South America. Frans has executed many successful MVRDV projects, such as Silodam, the Radio Tower and Hotel in Manhattan, the sustainable office and laboratory complex Matrix 1 in Amsterdam, as well as the 23-storey mixed-use building The Canyon in San Francisco, which constitutes a key and integral part of the city’s overall Mission Rock development.

He is currently leading projects in the Netherlands, the USA, Canada and South America, including six residential towers ranging from 92 to 143 metres in Ecuador, the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) at the University of Toronto, a mixed-use project at the Enterprise Research Campus adjacent to Harvard Business School, and a masterplan for affordable housing in Boston.
