How do we contribute to the successful revitalisation and the future of cities?
On Monday 27 May, Partner and Director of Strategy and Business Development Jan Knikker will deliver a keynote on "Urban transformation: Learning from Rotterdam" at the City of Greater Sudbury. Drawing on a range of projects including Markthal, Depot Boijmans van Beuningen, and rooftops, Jan will explain how MVRDV's work in its headquartered city has helped contribute to Rotterdam's renaissance and economic and cultural success, and how the lessons learned can be applied to other urban environments.
Jan's keynote is a core part of an event focused on Sudbury and renewed prosperity, which will also feature contributions from the city's mayor Paul Lefebvre, and Sudbury City Senior Planner Ed Landry.
Jan Knikker joined MVRDV in 2008. Prior to this, Knikker shaped OMA’s public image for nearly a decade, after having first began his career as a journalist. As Partner and Director of Strategy at MVRDV, Knikker drives Business Development and Public Relations efforts, spearheading a large and dynamic studio that also includes the office’s visualization capacity. He further leads the office’s branding efforts, and MVRDV’s expansion into new regions and typologies, by supporting the office’s ambition to generate solutions to global challenges through a multifaceted approach to architecture, urbanism, and computing.
