Elien Deceuninck to explore sustainability and innovation in interiors at SHARE's Interiors Forum

How do we create spaces that inspire and serve the people who use them? What do we think about context, narrative, and user experience? And how does MVRDV think about innovation that is environmentally sound?

On 30 May, associate and interior designer Elien Deceuninck's lecture at the SHARE Interiors Forum will seek to answer these questions with reference to four projects, from the seamless integration of sustainable materials and smart design solutions at NIO House Rotterdam and Amsterdam, to the blurred boundaries between interior programes and innovative use of materials and techniques at Café Camaleon.

Associate and Interior Designer Elien Deceuninck (BE) has been responsible for the conceptualisation of numerous Interiors projects at various scales. Those range from MVRDV’s retail work including NIO and Tiffany & Co., to large-scale cultural projects such as the Depot Boijmans van Beuningen Depot in Rotterdam, as well as housing. Deceuninck’s work in the office is versatile and global, and focused on generating spatial designs that inspire and serve the people who use them. Integral to this is her belief that good design flows from strong narratives rooted in a deep understanding of local character and context. She leverages this to make coherent design choices that result in strong interiors concepts, and that enrich occupant experiences. With over a decade of experience at MVRDV, Deceuninck has been part of MVRDV’s international growth, playing a key role in defining an identity for our interiors work while remaining true to the practice’s original, playful spirit.
