Hui Hsin Liao on MVRDV redefining architecture

undefined

On 2 October Associate Director and Head of Taiwan Hui Hsin Liao will deliver a lecture hosted by the Lih Pao Cultural Arts Foundation titled MVRDV: Redefine Architecture, as part of a series of talks "Building Green, Building Bold". Hui Hsin will reflect on our presence spanning more than a decade in Taiwan, examining the practical and design definitions in local regulations, as well as the projects Tainan Spring and Tainan Market.  Hui Hsin will also discuss the Depot Boijmans van Beuningen, the world's first publicly accessible art storage facility, and when considering Valley, how we use vertical greening to help redefine our residential, office, and retail projects.

Hui Hsin Liao (TW/NL) is an Architect (M.Arch), Associate Director, and Head of Taiwan at MVRDV. With considerable experience leading a wide range of projects in all stages of design and execution, from libraries, to urban plans, to open-air markets, and exhibitions, Liao’s exceptional project work demonstrates her clear dedication to design excellence.

Liao’s diligence in ensuring a transparent, and collaborative work process with clients has resulted in MVRDV’s growing portfolio of Taiwanese projects, including Tainan Market, the Jut Interior auditorium, Tianjin Binhai Library, Taipei Twin Towers, and the much-celebrated Tainan Spring, which involved the transformation of a decommissioned shopping centre into a vibrant public outdoor space where users can find relief from Tainan’s heat and humidity in its cool, water-based landscaping. Taipower’s 12,900m2 Sun Rock mixed-use facility in Changhua Country is another exceptional project that benefits from Liao’s leadership, achieving ground-breaking efficiency with a building façade entirely clad in PV panels, making it entirely self-sufficient.
