How does MVRDV use climate analysis within its design process?
On 13 February at the Autodesk Forma 3rd Community Meet-up, Associate and Architect Lorenzo Mattozzi will explore the evolution of data-driven design and storytelling at MVRDV. Highlighting how our approach to integrating climate analysis has advanced, particularly in the past year, Lorenzo will explain how this has enabled the practice to generate more accurate insights more quickly and visualise climate-responsive strategies effectively.
At MVRDV, data has always been a vital tool in our design process, with climate data playing a key role in bridging environmental analysis and architectural intuition. From assessing wind flows, noise levels, and solar exposure to optimising energy performance, climate-analysis tools empower us to make more informed design decisions, ensuring our projects are responsive, resilient, and innovative.
Lorenzo, an Associate and Architect at MVRDV, leads projects in the DAS Studio, focusing on mixed-use developments, urban integration, and social connectivity. He joined MVRDV in late 2017, initially working in the Asia Studio for four years, where he successfully completed four projects primarily in China. With prior experience in various architectural firms across Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Brazil, Lorenzo brings a wealth of expertise in architectural and infrastructural design, project development, and sustainability to his leadership role.
