Cosimo Scotucci to discuss Tech Shaping Architecture

undefined

How does MVRDV use research and technology in its projects?

On 30 May, Senior Project Leader Cosimo Scotucci will deliver a lecture titled "DatArchitecture", as part of Architecture Hunter's free to the public webinar series. Following Carlos Bañón, Associate Professor at SUTD on the overall theme of "Tech Shaping Architecture", Cosimo will explain how MVRDV both develops technologies in-house to explore and shape its projects, and how research and data help inform its designs. This includes Bastide Niel, which provided pre-defined volumes with their characteristic, striking sun cuts to the architecture offices responsible for the 144 blocks in MVRDV's masterplan, calculated with a combination of a solar envelope, historic layouts, and strict daylighting requirements.

Senior Project Leader and Architect Cosimo Scotucci works on many fields of design in MVRDV’s Asia Studio. Having joined MVRDV in 2016, he has extensive experience leading projects of various scales and phases, ranging from public buildings such as museums and theatres to skyscrapers. Integrating the most sophisticated and holistic sustainable technologies and strategy, Cosimo aims to create a new paradigm for sustainable architecture, achieving iconicity through ecology.
