Cosimo Scotucci and Lorenzo Mattozzi will be speaking at the inaugural edition of the Hunter International Forum (HIF 2025) in São Paulo, Brazil, on August 21st.

HIF 2025 is a two-day event held at the iconic Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) on August 20th and 21st, organised by Architecture Hunter. This international gathering will bring together visionary architects, designers, and thought leaders from around the globe. The event serves as a platform for open dialogue about the future of the built environment and the ways architecture can address the challenges of tomorrow.

During the event, Cosimo and Lorenzo will present the work of MVRDV, focusing on the theme of transformation. They will discuss topics such as adaptive reuse, refurbishment, and how architecture can creatively respond to both present and future needs. Their lecture, titled "Transformations: the Architecture of Change", will explore several projects, including the MVRDV House, Seoullo 7017, Shenzhen Women & Children's Centre, the Pyramid of Tirana, and others. These projects go beyond conventional renovation; they reinterpret, expand, and adapt existing structures and spaces, offering new possibilities.

The lecture will highlight MVRDV’s innovative strategies for revitalising old buildings and neighbourhoods, with a particular focus on international case studies. The goal is to breathe new life into ageing structures, activate local communities, and foster meaningful engagement. As the presentation will emphasise, the future will likely see a significant increase in large-scale retrofitting of buildings. It is inevitable that many of the buildings that were built over the past 30–40 years around the world will need a refurbishment over the next 20 years. We need to think in different terms about existing contemporary architecture as less disposable and more recyclable.

Cosimo Scotucci is a Senior Project Leader at MVRDV, leading projects within the Asia Studio, particularly in competition and concept design phases. Having joined MVRDV in late 2016, he brings a wealth of international experience from Italy, Denmark, France, and the Netherlands. Cosimo is passionate about architecture and design that prioritises people, integrating sustainability with quality of life. He has worked extensively on large-scale projects across Asia, especially in China and Taiwan.

Lorenzo Mattozzi is an Associate and Architect at MVRDV, leading projects within the DAS Studio. His work focuses on mixed-use developments, urban integration, and social connectivity. Lorenzo joined MVRDV in late 2017, initially working within the Asia Studio for four years, where he successfully completed several projects in China. He is now focusing on projects in Germany and northern Europe. Lorenzo’s previous experience in architectural firms across Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Brazil enriches his expertise in architectural design, project development, and sustainability.
