On October 28, 2026, Boudewijn Thomas, Associate at MVRDV, will give a keynote lecture at Climate Matters 2026 at the Architectural Association in London.
Boudewijn Thomas
Titled 'What Can Architecture Actually Change? Carbon, Data, Urgency and Relevance,' Boudewijn’s lecture will explore how architects can move from climate ambition to measurable action. Drawing on his work at MVRDV, he will discuss the role of carbon data, design tools, and project-specific strategies in reducing the environmental impact of buildings and cities.
The lecture will reflect on the broader theme of Climate Matters 2026, Transitions, which asks how architecture can respond to the climatic, ecological, and societal changes already underway. Boudewijn will consider how data and climate targets can become practical design decisions, and what architects can actually change through their work.
