Urban Open spaces for sport, play and movement: Winy Maas lecture in Mannheim

undefined

On Monday September 29, Winy Maas will give a lecture called 'SportCity' as part of the Annual Meeting of "The German Society of Sport Science", in cooperation with the City of Mannheim.

The theme for this 8th edition, chosen by the commission "Sports and space," is 'Freedom': this word suggests that there are obviously free spaces in the city, which could be designed for games, sports and exercise.

The Conference's aim is to offer a broad platform for interdisciplinary discussion and presentation of research results, projects and designs. The subject will be not not only from the perspective of philosophy, sociology, anthropology, urban studies and sports science but also with the perspective of sports organizations, landscape designers and architects.

It can be the occasion to answer some questions such as "What means "urban spaces', do they exist and how free are they? Which fundamentals have to be taken into account in the planning and design?" etc...

"The German Society of Sport Science" is a federation of researchers active in teaching, research or practice, aiming to encourage and support research in sport science.

Hours: Monday September 29, 19:00 - 20:00

Location: City of Mannheim, New Town Hall, Council Chamber, N1.
