On the 8th of November Winy Maas will speak at the opening of The Why Factory’s newest exhibition at the SpazioFMG per L’Architettura in Milan. His talk willreview the past ten years of the think tank’s research and introduce The Why Factory’s newest publication, Copy Paste.
The exhibition, titled ‘The Why Factory – Research, Education, and Public Engagement – TU Delft + MVRDV’, explores the think tank’s 10 years of research on urban space and visions for the future city.
“SpazioFMG per l’Architettura and The Why Factory were born almost at the same time, in 2007 and 2008. In the last decade, both have promoted a reflection on contemporary architecture that goes way beyond the vision and the story of single building, of an architectural creation and of a design in the traditional sense,” explains Luca Molinari, curator of the gallery.
The Why Factory aims to stimulate public debates about architecture and urbanism, proposing and envisioning hypothetical societies and cities. Copy Paste explores how the future city might develop not from constant newness, but from better architectural copies.
Winy Maas’ lecture will be held on the 8th of November at 19:30 at the exhibition space. The exhibition will be open and free to the public until 1 December. Registration is appreciated, more information can be found on the website here.
