We are thrilled to announce that today, the first trees were planted on the Almere Floriade site. MVRDV was selected to design Almere Floriade 2022, an area that is set to become a green extension to the city centre. The site will be home to a variety of plants and trees grouped by their botanical name and arranged into strips. Almere Floriade 2022 will contribute to 'a healthy city', where trees improve life and air quality with the intention of lowering the temperature in the city. Floriade Almere 2022 will be the seventh edition of the world horticulture exhibition and afterwards, it will become a green city district. Read more about the project here
