MVRDV - Third place for the Gardens of Zaryadye

Third place for the Gardens of Zaryadye

undefined

MVRDV has won the third place of the prestigious Zaryadye Park competition in Moscow, with a design comprising a rich collection of 750 gardens which recall Russia's natural landscapes next to the Red Square and the Kremlin. MVRDV realised its plan in a consortium with landscape artist Anouk Vogel, engineers Arcadis and Atrium as co-architect.

MVRDV’s proposal for Zaryadye merges the area’s vibrant history of with its bright future, translating it into a proposal which creates a new, green public place for Muscovites and their visitors. The proposal places a framework of paths, drawn from the old city fabric, across the landscape, providing a new model for urban parks, and a collection 750 different garden rooms with widely varying qualities and characters. The park integrated numerous amenities, including underground parking, a concert hall and exhibition spaces.
