The judges said:
"The solutions show a very refreshing originality, quite contrary to what is normally accepted as correct use of masonry.
The quality of the craftsmanship is excellent. The jury is particularly pleased to see how the brick material also is used in the interior walls and even floors and ceilings. The jury is of the opinion that the Central building is an inspiring example of the use of bricks in big and complex city buildings and takes an important and surprising place in the so called Barcode row of buildings on Oslo's new waterfront.''
The Norwegian Masonry Award:
The prize is awarded buildings in Norway with excellent architecture and good craftmanship and technical solutions.
The execution of the award is handled in cooperation between the Norwegian masonry industry (Norsk Murforum) and the Norwegian architectural society (NAL). This year the award will be handed out during the Norwegian Masonry Day on April 25 in Oslo.
