MVRDV Shanghai moves to new office

undefined

MVRDV’s office in Shanghai has a new address. The office, which was MVRDV’s first permanent presence outside of Rotterdam when it opened in 2011, is now located on Yongjia Road. Currently led by associate director Peter Chang, the Shanghai-based team of 15 people enables MVRDV to closely supervise its ongoing projects in China, ensuring high-quality results for the studio’s bold, forward-thinking architecture. MVRDV Shanghai has been instrumental in delivering many of MVRDV’s successful projects in China over the past 13 years, including the Tianjin Binhai Library, the Chongwenmen M·CUBE in Beijing, a master plan for the Hangzhou Grand Canal, NIO House Chongqing, Bulgari Shanghai, the Idea Factory in Shenzhen, and most recently, the Shenzhen Women & Children’s Centre.

Current projects being executed with the supervision of MVRDV Shanghai include the Wuhan Library, a vast public building arranged around a “canyon of books” that is set to become one of the largest libraries in China; the LAD HQ, a sustainable terraced office building that creates a showcase for the Lankuaikei Agriculture Development company; and the Hangzhou Oil Refinery Factory Park, which provides new life to a former industrial site with a cultural centre, public park, retail experiences, and office buildings. It also includes two projects in Chengdu: the Jiaozi Courtyard Towers, which will be one of the final completed projects in the high-profile Tianfu International Finance Centre, and a landmark office building and cultural centre in the Tianfu Software Park.
