From 11–13 September 2025, MVRDV is participating in the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo at Taipei’s World Trade Center, reflecting on our ongoing journey towards sustainable design. Under the title Carbon Confessions: From Reflection to Action, elements of our Carbon Confessions exhibition were shown alongside a curated selection of MVRDV projects that turn sustainable ambition into built reality.

Now in its fourth edition, the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo was hosted by the Taiwan Institute of Sustainable Energy (TAISE). With the theme “Charge Towards Change,” the event brought together more than 100 exhibitors from government, business, academia, and non-profit organisations to present innovative actions and achievements in sustainable development and net-zero transformation.

MVRDV’s contribution included projects such as Sun Rock, Tour & Taxis Lake Side, IPAI, and the Market Cube in Zhubei. Together, they highlight themes ranging from renewable energy and circular retrofits to ethical tech and resilient urban communities.

Through panel displays, models, and digital interfaces, each project invited dialogue on embodied carbon, circularity, density, and what it means to build “for the future.” The exhibition called for moving beyond incrementalism, positioning architecture as both design and agency: confronting carbon realities and working towards an accountable future.

Alongside the exhibition, MVRDV’s Jan Knikker and Hui Hsin Liao contributed lectures to the expo programme, sharing insights into MVRDV's approach to sustainable design.

This exhibition was made possible through a collaboration with Winsing Development, JUT Group, Cheering Zu, ChinPaoSan Group, EKUO Architects, I Domain Industrial, Les Suites Taipei, and KEIM.
