The Couch wins BNA Building of the Year 2016 Category award for 'Identity and Iconic Value'

MVRDV’s The Couch has won the BNA building of the year category ‘Identity and Iconic Value’. The award ceremony which took place today celebrated over 120 entries of this year’s Dutch architecture. Competing against The Couch in the same category were mei architects and planner’s McDonalds’s in Rotterdam, and the Katwijk aan Zee underground parking garage by Royal HaskoningDHV.

The award ceremony hopes to shine the spotlight on the most impressive, original and innovative buildings in the Netherlands. As well as for each of the three categories ‘Identity and Iconic Value’, ‘Quality of Life and Social Cohesion’ and ‘Stimulating Environments’, awards were also given for honourable mentions, audience choice and for the ‘Best Building of the Year Award 2016’ which was awarded to Royal HaskoningDHV’s underground parking garage.
