Yesterday saw the 100,000th visitor to The Stairs, MVRDV's temporary installation in Rotterdam which celebrates the reconstruction of the city. The lucky visitor was congratulated by Councillor Adriaan Visser and received champagne and a bouquet of flowers, as well as a night for two in Rotterdam's Manhattan Hotel. Guusje Eijer, a resident of Utrecht, won the prizes after travelling to Rotterdam especially to see The Stairs.
The project, which was opened last Monday, has seen over 10,000 visitors every day. The Stairs take visitors up onto the rooftop of the Groot Handelsgebouw where they can can take a tour around the exhibitions and the bar, whilst appreciating stunning views over the city.
The Stairs are located in Stationsplein outside Rotterdam Central Station and are open between 10:00am and 10:00pm every day; admission is free.
