MVRDV’s Seoul Skygarden has begun to take life with an 18 metre mock-up of the project having been built as an information booth to the project. Three street lamps, 10 plant pot variations and a visitor's centre showing 3D animations of the project have been erected to inform members of the public about the scheme and what it will bring to the city. The installation also hopes to engage the community and will be used to gather feedback on the design.

“I am sure many of you are wondering what the renovated overpass will look like,” said Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon when speaking at the opening of the information station. “The strip of the overpass re-produced here is not only to show you what it will be like, but also to gain feedback from you on how we can build it better.”

The Info Garden shows an example of not only how members of the public can engage with the project but also gives a glimpse into the atmosphere of the site. At night, blue lights glow from the tree pots and lamp posts as they would in the final design.

“At night, you will walk through a flood of blue light,” says MVRDV co-founder Winy Maas, “as if you’re walking in a cosmos, and all the plants will be lit as if they are the stars, which, they are.”

The project has already begun construction, with the overpass being closed in December 2015, the project is expected to open to the public in April 2017. Once opened, the Skygarden will be managed by non-governmental community group Gogawalking who have already, and will continue to, organise public events on the city walkway.
