The construction of MONACO, a six-storey office building in Munich’s Werksviertel, has reached its highest point.

MONACO continues the transformation of the Werksviertel, the former home to the Pfanni food factory. Since the factory closed in 1996, the area has evolved from an industrial site into a vibrant cultural destination, first known as Kunstpark Ost, later as Kultfabrik. Since 2016, the district has undergone a further transformation into Werksviertel Mitte, combining workplaces, leisure, culture and residential developments.
A key feature is MONACO’s circular approach to construction materials. The façade incorporates approx. 60,000 m² reclaimed clinker bricks, alongside almost 12,000 m² recycled plastic shingles manufactured from discarded PVC building materials, including old window frames, gutters and drain pipes. The shingles are produced by Amsterdam-based Pretty Plastic.
The building’s dual character is also reflected in its interior organization, which combines office spaces with communal areas designed to encourage collaboration and informal encounters. The 4,000 m² of office space are complemented by 580 m² of terraces and rooftop garden.
Completion is scheduled for Q3 2027.
