The Why Factory celebrates 10 years of work

The Why Factory, developed and led by founding partner Winy Maas, celebrates 10 years of work this summer.

Since its foundation, the research institute/global think-tank based at Delft University of Technology has focused on issues related to the development of our cities. It prizes a trial-and-error process, where the parameters and end goals are as flexible as the questions being asked. The exciting journey leads to spectacular (and sometimes unexpected) outcomes.

The Why Factory aims to engage the public in a debate about the future of their own cities, and has done so across the world through a variety of lectures, exhibitions, workshops, and publications. On 29 June, Winy Maas will give a talk titled What's Next about The Why Factory at the Architekturgalerie München, reflecting on past years’ work and anticipating the future of the program. The individual exhibition will run from 29 June - 21 July

Says Winy Maas in his introduction to the exhibition: “Through these 10 years, I have realized that the issue of the future has become more necessary as well as sexier. More and more films talk and speculate about it. More and more designers invent elements that serve the future. More and more leaders talk about the future. More and more architects dream about the future than ever.  …There is so much to do.”
