Nathalie de Vries Reelected as Chair of the BNA

MVRDV co-founder Nathalie de Vries has been re-elected as Chair of the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects (BNA). She was elected by the Members' Council to her first two-year term in 2015.

Statement from the BNA (translated):

“Nathalie de Vries will extend her BNA chairmanship by two years after a unanimous vote by the BNA Members' Council. De Vries, founding director of MVRDV, has acted as chairman of the board since July 2015. She, alongside director Fred Schoorl, acts as the face and voice of the BNA, writing blogs for BNA.nl and contributing to BNA events and industry activities. Among these are BNA Architectendag (2 November), Make Happen (20 October), BNA Best Building of the Year, Building Holland, and Provada.

BNA Director Fred Schoorl looks forward to an extension of cooperation: “Nathalie encourages us and our members to look beyond today’s practice, including inviting in technological and sustainable developments. She plays an exemplary role in helping us make both the BNA and the industry greater and stronger.”

Nathalie de Vries is a founding partner of MVRDV. She is a Professor of Baukunst at the Art Academy of Düsseldorf and has previously held positions at Harvard GSD, IIT, TU Delft, and other universities. She is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Groniger Museum, a position she has also held at Het Nieuwe Instituut for Architecture, Design, and E-culture.
