MVRDV have been shortlisted as part of the HASSELL+ team (HASSELL, Deltares, Goudappel, Lotus Water, Civic Edge, Idyllist, Hatch and Page & Turnbull) for the second round of the Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge and allocated the site of San Mateo County. The HASSELL+ team is an international team of experts who understands designing and living with water, alongside considering the potential that waterfront locations have for better connected and resilient communities.
The team’s Collect and Connect proposal was developed to work together with the local community, public officials, national and international experts to combat challenges of climate change and ecological disaster around San Francisco Bay.
The first stage of the competition attracted 51 submissions and through an extensive jury process, 10 winning Design Teams were selected to participate. The teams shortlisted are HASSELL+; All Bay Collective; BIG + ONE + SHERWOOD; Bionic Team; Common Ground; Field Operation Team; Home Team; P+SET (Permaculture plus Social Equity); Public Sediment and Uplift.
