Following on from “Landskating” and “La Boîte de Nuit”, Villa Noailles continues its exploration of cultural architectures specific to spaces intended for entertainment and leisure.

The 2018 architecture exhibition, “Domestic Pools”, will focus upon private swimming pools considering their initial appearance in modern homes — for which the villa Noailles serves as a notable example — to contemporary experimentations. This exhibition will retrace the architectural devices employed for bathing and also cover both vernacular and industrial types of private pools whose technical innovations have progressively rendered them accessible to the middle classes.

The exhibition includes swimming pools designed by architects including Alain Capeillères, Adolf Loos, Aires Mateus, Albert Frey, Alvar Aalto, Andreas Angelidakis, Arquitectonica, Barozzi Veiga, Ricardo Bofill, Didier Faustino, Richard England, Ensamble, FMAU, Julia Morgan, Julien Monfort, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Office KGDVS, OMA – Rem Koolhaas, Pezo von Ellrichshausen, Thomas Raynaud, Philippe Rahm, SO-IL, Eric Tabuchi and Pin Up
